Paper Trail

Paper Trail

“Paper Trail is a top-down puzzle adventure about leaving home, set in a foldable, paper world. You play as Paige, a budding academic, leaving home for the first time to pursue her studies. On the journey, you learn to fold the world, merging two sides to solve puzzles, explore new areas and uncover long-lost secrets.”

Paper Trail is a BAFTA Nominated game that has received over 70 awards and honours, including Game of the Year at the 2025 DEBUG Indie Game Awards, Best Family Game at Gamescom 2022 and nominations such as Mobile Game Of The Year at the 28th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards.

My work on Paper Trail covered a variety of areas across design, technical development, production, and publishing throughout the project:

  • Puzzle & Level Design: I designed, developed, iterated on, and tested puzzles and levels built around the game's paper-folding mechanics.
  • Unity Implementation: I worked extensively in Unity implementing cutscenes, tutorials, environmental animation, effects, and other in-engine content.
  • Publishing & Backend Content: I worked with our producer on store content, backend setup, platform requirements, achievements, and release preparation across multiple platforms.
  • Build Server Management: I maintained and improved our automated build pipeline for reliable debug and release builds across supported platforms.
  • Programming Support: I provided programming and technical support through debugging, smaller gameplay features, production tools, and polish.
  • Playtesting & QA Support: I regularly playtested across platforms, identifying bugs, exploits, puzzle issues, usability problems, and areas for improvement.
